What if you could pick a cell based on functional properties, e.g. migration behavior or cytotoxic response, without the use of molecular markers? In order to be able to do that, we are currently developing a new technical platform for single cell isolation.
The instrumentation is based on commercial hardware that is fully integrated with a high-resolution microscopy setup. It includes precision liquid handling in combination with a robotic arm that is equipped with an ultrafine glass capillary.
The setup is controlled by computer software in which cells of interest are identified, picked up and dispensed Into designated reservoir.
With the single cell isolation platform, we hope to be able to isolate specific lymphocytes of interest for subsequent experiments, expansion or analysis.
